our story

A Farm Reborn, A Brewery Built by Family

Our story begins with a piece of history—our family’s sixth-generation farm in upstate Nassau, New York. Originally a multi-faceted production farm, it later became a dedicated dairy operation, where Holstein cows were milked twice daily into the late 1990s. Over the years, as the dairy industry changed, the once-thriving farm grew quiet. But instead of letting it fade into history, we saw an opportunity to breathe new life into the land while honoring the legacy of those who worked it before us.

With a vision in mind and a passion for craft beer, our family—parents, brothers, and in-laws—came together to build something from the ground up. We launched our brewery, and through the incredible support of our community and a successful Kickstarter campaign (see video below), we were able to build our taproom. From there, we continued to grow, expanding the brewery ourselves while staying true to the hard work and craftsmanship that have always defined our family and our farm. Every nail, beam, and board of our taproom was placed with care, each detail thoughtfully preserving the history of the farm while creating a warm and welcoming space for all who walk through our doors.

The brewery itself is deeply connected to the farm’s history. The original brewhouse was built into the old milkhouse, the very space where fresh milk was once collected. Our taproom, where guests now gather over a pint, was once the milk barn, where cows were let in twice daily to be milked. Even our outdoor space—complete with seating areas, a stage for live music, and a play yard for families—was once the old barnyard, where livestock once roamed.

We are proud to be one of the first farm breweries in New York State, a designation that reflects our deep connection to agriculture and our commitment to using locally sourced ingredients. Sixty percent or more of every beer we craft comes from right here in New York, ensuring the freshest flavors in every pint while supporting the local farmers who make our work possible.

Today, the brewery is owned and operated by Matt and Shaina Sanford, who continue the family’s mission of creating a welcoming gathering place for friends, neighbors, and beer lovers alike.
